Symphyotrichum novae-angliae ‘Rudelsburg’ produces bright pink daisy flowers with fluffy orange centres on robust stems above mid-green, lance-shaped leaves. Much sought after for its intensity of colour, it really brightens a late-season mixed or herbaceous border from late summer well into autumn.
At the nursery we have combined it with ornamental grasses and Symphyotrichum novae-angliae ‘Andenken an Alma Pötschke’ for an eye-catching late display that extends naturally into wider prairie-style planting. Attractive to butterflies and excellent as a cut flower, it thrives in moist, fertile soil in full sun or partial shade.

Care Guide:
Divide clumps every 3–4 years to maintain vigour — any time after flowering but spring is preferred. Cut back stems after flowering in autumn. Taller selections may require staking. Symphyotrichum novi-belgii cultivars benefit from good air circulation to help prevent mildew.

Good to Know:
Pollinator-friendly — the flowers attract bees and other pollinators; the central disc turns from yellow to brown once pollinated.
Vigorous and long-lived; clumps bulk up well over time.
