Silene fimbriata, commonly known as fringed campion, bears clusters of single white flowers with finely fringed petals and prominent, fresh green calyces on tall stems above mounds of green foliage. Always a favourite on our RHS Chelsea stand, it is a go-to plant for designers too.
Tolerant of dry shade, it is useful beneath trees and shrubs or beside a wall or fence, where its white flowers brighten shaded planting. Use it as ground cover or among other perennials in a naturalistic scheme. It grows well in partial to full shade in free-draining, neutral to alkaline soil.
