Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
Geranium phaeum, commonly known as Mourning Widow, bears dusky purple, flat flowers that nod on upright stems above clumps of deeply cut green leaves marked with brown.
Its loose habit suits cottage gardens and informal planting. It tolerates dry shade beneath trees and shrubs, and grows in sun, partial shade or full shade in most reasonably fertile soils, provided they are not waterlogged.
Cut back faded flowers and tired foliage to encourage fresh leaves and occasional further flowers.
