100% Peat Free Pollinator Friendly

'Crystal Cloud' is a catmint with a story behind it. Bred by Sonia Wright, a specialist nurserywoman from Wiltshire, it introduced a genuinely new colour to the genus — very pale lilac flowers, softer and cooler than the familiar blue-mauve of most catmints. Hardy's had the pleasure of launching it at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2016, and it has been a firm favourite ever since.

The grey-green foliage is tidy and well-branched with a neat, upright habit, making it a well-behaved choice for the front of a border, a gravel garden, or a container. It flowers generously throughout summer, is reliably attractive to bees, and works particularly well as a companion to darker-flowered varieties where its pale blooms provide a gentle contrast.

  • Care Guide:

Grow in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. After the first flush of flowers, cut back to keep the plant compact and encourage another display. Leave the old stems and foliage over winter to provide hibernation shelter for ladybirds, then cut back hard in spring as new growth emerges.

Lift and divide large, established clumps in spring or autumn to rejuvenate them. To raise new plants, take softwood cuttings in early summer.

  • Good to Know:

Pollinator-friendly. Drought-tolerant once established. Aromatic foliage.

Some Nepeta attract cats, particularly catnip (Nepeta cataria). They may roll among the stems and chew the leaves, so young plants may need protection from their attention.
