Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
Nepeta grandiflora ‘Bramdean’ was selected from the gardens of Bramdean House in Hampshire and introduced by John Coke of Green Farm Plants.
An upright, open-habited catmint of medium height, with oval grey-green leaves and long, lax spikes of deep indigo-blue flowers on contrasting dark stems throughout summer. The colour is notably rich for the genus. It performs best in a sunny position in well-drained soil.
Worth knowing: Nepeta grandiflora varieties produce a different oil to most catmints, making them considerably less attractive to cats — a useful quality if your garden has feline visitors.

Care Guide:
Grow in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. After the first flush of flowers, cut back to keep the plant compact and encourage another display. Leave the old stems and foliage over winter to provide hibernation shelter for ladybirds, then cut back hard in spring as new growth emerges.
Lift and divide large, established clumps in spring or autumn to rejuvenate them. To raise new plants, take softwood cuttings in early summer. -
Good to Know:
Pollinator-friendly. Drought-tolerant once established. Aromatic foliage.
Some Nepeta attract cats, particularly catnip (Nepeta cataria). They may roll among the stems and chew the leaves, so young plants may need protection from their attention. -
