Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
Nepeta govaniana is an unusual catmint bearing pale lemon-yellow flowers over very fragrant, lemon-scented foliage in late summer and early autumn. Plant it where you can brush past and enjoy the light, fresh fragrance it releases.
This woodland-edge species thrives in partial shade in most soils, and will tolerate moderately dry conditions once established. Its well-branched habit makes it a distinctive choice for a shaded border or naturalistic planting scheme.

Care Guide:
Grow in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. After the first flush of flowers, cut back to keep the plant compact and encourage another display. Leave the old stems and foliage over winter to provide hibernation shelter for ladybirds, then cut back hard in spring as new growth emerges.
Lift and divide large, established clumps in spring or autumn to rejuvenate them. To raise new plants, take softwood cuttings in early summer. -
Good to Know:
Pollinator-friendly. Drought-tolerant once established. Aromatic foliage.
Some Nepeta attract cats, particularly catnip (Nepeta cataria). They may roll among the stems and chew the leaves, so young plants may need protection from their attention. -
